Certificate and its meaning

Certificate and its meaning

Biological wastewater treatment systems may actually seem similar in all aspects – treatment technologies, construction, as well as the price. However there are some vital differences that must be noted – the certificates issued for wastewater treatment plants. Some plants are certified, whereas some – aren’t.

Quality passport

Certificates are issued for wastewater treatment plants after laboratory tests and experiments. The only in Lithuania and the Baltic States Laboratory on Small Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plants was established in 2009. However this laboratory is not notified.

Notified institution is an independent institution, appointed by one of European liable institutions, usually the Government. Notified institution acts in compliance with Directives, i.e. determines, whether the operation of treatment plant complies with the requirements specified in the Directive. One Lithuanian manufacturer of domestic wastewater treatment plants performed the tests with their products in the notified foreign test laboratory.

Domestic wastewater treatment systems manufactured by August ir Ko UAB were tested in the notified wastewater treatment plant test institute in Aachen, Germany. Test results approved our wastewater treatment systems as reliable, featuring high quality of treated water, therefore this company qualified for CE marking.
Product certificate is the passport of quality. We believe nobody would like to purchase a car without technical passport, proving the safety and appropriateness of this product. Buyers analyze this document, checking on the consumption of fuel, power and other properties. The same happens with wastewater treatment plants – issued certificate approves conformity of treated wastewater with environmental requirements, specifies the determined technical parameters, etc.

The importance of CЄ

We all recognize the only promising products are the ones complying with certain quality requirements, convenient to use, organic and safe. In global market, such conformity of product with certain requirements is marked with a certain mark. In European Union this mark is .
Letters are an abbreviation of French „Conformité Européene“. Presently the mark is applied in all official European Union documentation.

Product marking with mark has several implications and means that:

  • Manufacturer declares that his product complies with basic normative EU requirements on health, safety of use and environmental protection; it is generalized as “Directive on products”;
  • Product marking with CЄ mark indicates to National market management institutions that this product is legally supplied to an internal market;
  • Product marking with CЄ mark ensures free movement of product across the united marked of European Free Trade Association and European Union. Customs and national market management institutions are liable to prohibit certain products not marked with CЄ mark in the market.

  • mark is obligatory for all biological wastewater treatment plants

    Visi montuojami nuotekų valymo įrenginiai turi atitikti griežtus aplinkosaugos reikalavimus. Išvalyto vandens kokybė privalo atitikti aukštas Europos Sąjungos nustatytas normas, todėl iš šių įrenginių vandenį, gautą išvalius nuotekas, galima išleisti į gruntą, atvirus vandens telkinius, nedarant jokios žalos ekologinei sistemai.

    These requirements can only be guaranteed with responsibility with certified wastewater treatment plants. According to the Order of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania (Nr. D1-487 www3.lrs.lt) since the 1st of July, 2010 all newly installed wastewater treatment plants must be certified with CE marking.

    Wastewater treatment plants must be tested in laboratories and obtain issued test protocols, approving compliance of plants with appropriate requirements and applicability to marking.
    If you are considering to purchase wastewater treatment plant, pay attention whether the plant you selected has a mark. Otherwise the plant will not qualify for mounting, e.g. the permit on installation of such wastewater treatment plant is not issued. Self-willingly installed wastewater treatment plant without mark is treated as illegal structure (legally this structure needs a project), e.g. if this violation is detected, you must replace it with a certified wastewater treatment plant.

    It is most convenient to select the wastewater treatment plant from a company that produces it, as such company is familiar with own product and is capable to consult, give comprehensive explanation on the operation of plant, technology, etc. Similarly, we would like to consult manufacturer of our cars, as the manufacturers are the ones to know everything about the vehicle they have produced.
